Maria's Journey to Food Security – Turkana
Through our climate-smart agriculture training, Maria learned modern farming techniques that improved her harvest and allowed her family to achieve food security.
Maria lived in a remote village in Turkana County where drought and unpredictable rainfall made farming extremely challenging. For years, her family struggled with food insecurity, relying on occasional aid distributions. When BA Consulting introduced our climate-smart agriculture program, Maria was among the first to participate.
She learned about drought-resistant crop varieties, water conservation techniques, and soil management practices. With training in modern farming methods and access to improved seeds, Maria's harvest increased by 40% in the first season. Today, her family not only feeds themselves but also sells surplus produce at local markets, generating income for school fees and healthcare.
"Before this program, we worried about our next meal every day," Maria shares. "Now, I can plan for the future and even help my neighbors. This is not just farming – it's hope for our community."
